Meet Wedgwood, the British pottery brand that’s been setting the standard for elegant ceramics since 1759. Josiah Wedgwood—potter, entrepreneur, and all-around ceramic genius—was on a mission to create something new and extraordinary. Inspired by classical art, he developed Jasperware, a type of unglazed stoneware that looks like it was plucked straight out of an ancient Roman villa. And just like that, Wedgwood went from being a pottery brand to an icon of refined taste.
It wasn’t just about the aesthetics—Wedgwood’s pieces were highly innovative. Unlike traditional glazed ceramics, Jasperware is matte and slightly porous, giving it a smooth, almost velvety feel. It was the luxury home accessory of the late 18th century, perfect for showing off in grand estates.
This vintage Wedgwood Jasperware piece is a true collector’s item, designed to be admired rather than used. In a timeless sage green, it features intricate white reliefs of classical figures, delicate floral motifs, and elegant detailing on the lid.
